Our work in the community

At Balanced Beans, we are passionate about supporting our local community and giving back to the Hunter region in which we live in and work.

We are especially invested in supporting business owners and their mental health. with SME business owners typically finding it difficult to reach out for support via traditional health services – despite often being at the epicentre of the demographic affected.

We believe in collaborating with individuals, organisations and charities who are making a difference. We are proud to be able to donate our time and money to help change people’s lives for the better.

Our team are always happy to partner with people, businesses and organisations that align with our values. If you would like to collaborate or if you or someone you know is in need, please get in touch with us today.

One Foot Forward is an initiative organised by the Black Dog Institute to support Mental Health Month.

This year 10 members from our team, including Karen and Brodie, ran/walked a total of 985km to help show the 1 in 5 people in Australia who experience symptoms of mental illness that they are not alone.

In doing so we raised $4,608 for the worthy cause. It is an initiative that is very close to our hearts, and we can’t wait to walk for mental health again in 2022.

Counting On U is a training program which is focused on improving mental health among small-to-medium (SME) business owners across Australia. Team member Brodie White has completed her training and is now a qualified Mental Health First Aider.

As an advisor, Brodie is feeling more empowered and capable of having difficult discussions with our clients – reflecting her concern for our clients’ overall wellbeing and not just their financial affairs.

We are proud sponsors of one of our local basketball teams, the Maitland Shooting Stars. If you would like to come and watch a game, they’d love to have your support. We hope to see you there cheering from the sidelines!

October is Mental Health Month and to show support, Karen and Brodie have committed to walking 100kms as part of the Black Dog InstituteOne Foot Forward fundraiser. This event sees participants walking solidarity for the 1 in 5 people in Australia who experience symptoms of mental illness every year. Click here to donate to this amazing cause!
