Business Activity Statement Agents

Activity Statements are a method to remit your tax liabilities such as Goods and Services Tax (GST), PAYG Withheld (PAYGW), PAYG Instalments (PAYGI) to the Australian Taxation Office.

Depending on your annual turnover and amount of PAYG Withheld you may need to report monthly or quarterly through Business Activity Statements (BAS) or Instalment Activity Statements. You may need to lodge a combination of both BAS and IAS. Penalties and interest may apply to late payments or errors within your activity statements.

If your business makes payments to contractors or subcontractors from certain industries including building and construction and cleaning services, you may also need to lodge a Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR). TPAR is designed to eliminate dishonest operations which create an unfair advantage over others. If you are required to report TPAR you must declare each contractors ABN, name, contact information and the gross amount paid to each contractor for the financial year by August 28th each year.
